The AZSFWC received a grant request that the Board deemed very important and urgent to consider funding outside the normal grant cycle. These funds will support the AZ Chapter of NWTF’s efforts on a large scale habitat project to help close out a Land and Water Conservation Fund effort with the Trust for Public Land’s purchase of the Cross F Ranch near Aravaipa, AZ. When that purchase closes, thousands of acres of access will be opened to the public in the Santa Teresa mountains of the Coronado National Forest. Completion of the habitat project is a requirement for the purchase to be finalized.
The AZ Chapter of NWTF and the AZ Deer Association are contributing the remainder of the funds for the $50,000 project.
Funding for grants is available through sales of our special Conserving Wildlife license plate. More information about the license plate and how you can obtain one can be found HERE.
